Dina SantorelliI began my writing and editing career in the trades at Fairchild Publications, where I learned how to turn stories around quickly, had amazing mentors and was lucky enough to be given autonomy to develop my skills as a manager and creative thinker. In 1998, after the birth of my son (the first of three babies), I started a full-time freelance career, and, with a few exceptions that involved long nights spent with vomiting children, I haven't looked back.

Thanks in large part to my years at Fairchild, I am dependable, deadline- and detail-oriented, and can handle a fast pace of multiple projects simultaneously. For 13 years, I have been working as a general-assignment freelancer and have written articles for a variety of consumer publications, including Newsday, Women's Health & Fitness, Decorating Spaces, do! and Pregnancy, as well as trade, niche and specialty magazines. I have interviewed many high-profile individuals, from CEOs to celebrities, including James Gandolfini, Tim McGraw, Angela Bassett, Mario Lopez, Gary Sinise, Kevin Bacon and Adam Carolla, among others. Additionally, I currently serve as executive editor -- a position I've held for five years -- of two lifestyle magazines for the military market, Family and Salute, which have readerships of 500,000 and 200,000, respectively.

In 2005, I went back to school to pursue my Master's in English/Creative Writing at Hofstra University, one of the best career decisions I've ever made. It was there that I started working on a novel called Baby Grand.

Good Girls Don't Get FatIn May 2009, I received my degree, with some 70 pages of Baby Grand under my belt, and was hired as the "with" writer for Good Girls Don't Get Fat by Robyn Silverman. The non-fiction book, published by Harlequin in October 2010, discusses the pressure on girls to be thin -- it was a dream project, a collaboration with an astute, hard-working and personable psychologist on a subject I am passionate about.

In February 2010, The Stonesong Press LLC of New York City, signed with me to represent Baby Grand, which I finished writing in August of that year -- a writing experience I chronicle in my blog, Making 'Baby Grand.'

I continue to work as a freelance writer and editor, as well as conduct seminars and workshops on getting published, all while working on Novel #2, tentatively titled, "In the Red."
